We hope you are looking forward to the upcoming long weekend to enjoy some quality family time. A reminder that we have a Student Free Day scheduled for Tuesday 9th April.
We are very proud of the way in which our community has responded to the ongoing COVID-19 challenges. Thank you again for your ongoing care and support – it is greatly valued and appreciated.
However, whilst community restrictions are being eased, we still need to take heed of the advice of the Chief Public Health Officer. At a school level, this particularly relates to the importance of adults practising social distancing. Once again, when dropping off or collecting your child/ren on school grounds, please maintain the 1.5 social distancing measure and refrain from entering school buildings. Thank you.
To streamline the management of phone calls to the school, we have introduced a call redirection service. Anyone calling the school on 82704144 will be asked to select from a number of options including: to report an absence, to be redirected to Finance, OSHC, Canteen, Library and general enquiries.
Department Instagram Page
Our school has been selected to take over the Department’s Instagram page this week. We look forward to sharing our learning to the South Australian community. Details here. The Department’s Instagram handle is edu_sagov
Virtual Cross Country Running
Craigburn has a proud history in cross country running and this year, thanks to Mrs Pettman and School Sport SA, around 90 enthusiastic students will participate in the Virtual Cross Country challenge. Details here.
Teachers are in the early stages of preparing Mid-Year Reports. This involves them working collaboratively in year level teams to determine how students have progressed in their learning over the first semester in reference to the achievement standards within the Australian Curriculum. Students in Years 1-7 will receive a written report with A-E grades, whilst Reception students will receive a written report referenced against the Foundation achievement standard. It is important to note that teachers will be making their best professional judgement in writing these reports considering how COVID-19 has impacted teaching and learning programs. Reports will be sent home in the last week of term.
At this time of the term and year, staff can and do fall ill, requiring them to take sick leave. Similarly, teaching staff may be involved in extracurricular activities and professional development workshops. During these times, we do our best to employ regular temporary relief teachers (TRTs) who know our students and school well. I would like to commend our students who understand the importance of positive learning behaviours when their teachers are absent from school. The feedback we receive from TRTs is most complimentary of our students and their behaviour.
